AND WHY BOTHER??

Women all know this juggling - career, children, parents, spouse, hobbies etc. First we tend to put ourselves last and when the juggling gets too much we use our stress hormone cortisol to keep us going. Cortisol stops the production of estrogen and progesterone when we are in flight or flight mode. Producing estrogen and progesterone is deemed by the brain as non-essential to the “emergency”.

“Official figures show that women aged 25-54 are more stressed than their male colleauges. With this pressure peaking for those aged 35-54, when many women are juggling family responsibilities, such as caring for children and elderly parents……”

We humans are herd animals, we aren’t designed to live alone, we don’t tend to do well when we do things on our own, women need community and support and collaboration to step into greatness.

I am an ex teacher, teacher trainer and aid worker of 30 years, currently living in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania with my daughter, hubs and three dogs, Picasso, Eileen and Rebecca.

My course has been so popular as a workshop series that I felt inspired to get the messages out as widely as possible. I really don't want other woman to have to take so long to learn the important life-saving messages I did. I have developed a formula which helps women make day to day changes which is exactly what I did.

BUT I had to work it all out on my own. There is SO much information, TOO MUCH in fact, and so many myths which can be so confusing. In 2014 I started blogging about life as a middle aged women learning about the consequences of unmanaged stress for the first time as well as getting hit by peri-menopause. My blog then became a book. One thing led to another. From writing I started doing talks and then public speaking at larger events. I also learnt that it wasn’t just hormones or this time of life - it was my lifestyle.

Certainly mine - too much stress, too much work in places with macho cultures. I was a basket case and my body had been trying to tell me - for years actually. As a result of what I learnt, I am now a full time Women’s Wellness Coach and Meditation Teacher, an Activist and the author of "The Darling Menopause" series. I am on a personal mission to get women over 40 from frazzled to fabulous so that we can step into our greatness.
